Chicago...had a fierce pioneer gaiety that enlivened the senses, yet underlying it throbbed masculine loneliness. I didn't know anything about Burlesque before coming to the US...what a surprise I was in for!

Under the sheets of surgically clean main-stream pop, boring Indie and other pseudo-alternative trends lurks this ancient-feeling cabaresque art form, looking both démodé and utterly defying main-stream tendencies.

After reading Burlesque's history, I found that the current form little has to do with the plays of the 1800's . Now they even included klezmeresque music from the balkans...enjoy.
